Trail & Ultra Running

Devil's Thumb Aid Station at Western States

Many of our members love the rewards and challenges of trail and ultra running. On any given weekend you can find them on the Folsom trails, the Cool and Auburn forests, and in the wilderness on the famous Western States Endurance Race 100 trails.

Here are some popular places where they start their trail adventures:

Cavitt Junior High School, Granite Bay, CA

Auburn Dam Overlook, Auburn, CA

Cool Fire Station, Cool, CA

Foresthill Elementary School, Foresthill, CA

Information about the Buffalo Chips Western States 100 Award Slot is available here. This slot is available to club members in good standing only.

The Pacific Association is home to many of the premier mountain, ultra, and trail running events in the nation, if not the world. The very active USATF Pacific MUT Committee and its athletes take full advantage of these events with its annual MUT Grand Prix. On a national level this committee belongs to the Mountain-Ultra-Trail (MUT) LDR Division.

Three of the area’s most popular races (Way Too Cool 50K, AR50 miler, and Rio Del Lago 100 miler) are managed extremely well by a local race director.
